Small finish-Mr. Blue Monster

I said I was going to start a Mill Hill kit this week. However when I went to separate the floss out, I was missing a color. A few of the colors were so close, I am not even 100% sure which I am missing. So I went through my kitted and waiting projects. That's when I came across Mr. Blue Monster. I was able to start and finish this in 5 days.

I stitched this mostly as charted on 27 ct mystery fabric. This chart is from the 2012 Halloween collectors issue of JCS. It's a mosey 'n me pattern.

WIPocalypse 2015-January

I’m Angie. I’m 38, married 15 years, with a nearly 5 yr old son. I stitch about 1-2 hours a day.mNow that my son is older I sometimes stitch evenings I don’t work as well. I started stitching when I was 10ish, then took many years off until I was around 30.

Although I have participated in the past, I sat out last year. I am participating in WIPocalypse this year. You can learn all about WIPocalypse as well as sign up here.

My goals this year are to complete as many of the following as I can. Most of these will be new starts. I am proud to say missing from my list is Japanese garden, my chatelaine, which I finished. You can see pics a few entries back.

I stitch on a rotation. Currently one week Earthdancer, one week HAED, one week a small. As this first full moon came 5 days into the year the only one I have worked on is Earthdancer.
Here is my current progress. Stitched on Silkweaver’s fairyland 32 ct. Wexford linen

Here is a list of my goals for the year.

Crabby all year-may-raise the roof (Rabbits). I am stitching each month separate.

Crabby all year-June-raise the roof ( bugs)

Night owl- mill hill kit (my first mill hill)

Earthdancer 50%-butternut road

Dragonflies whisper-HAED- 3 pages. This one I have started already. My goal would take me 1 page into the second row. This is approximately 3 1/2 pages.

6 bats and black cat finished- plus a few finished items-

This is something that I stitched last year. It was a quick easy stitch that I enjoyed doing. It was also my first beading. I got around to doing this simple quick pillow finish recently. I may add some runched ribbon around the outside at some later date, I may not. I haven’t decided yet.

It is LHN- snowy pines 28ct. tea dyed evenweave. Stitched as charted.

This I also stitched last year.  It is Crabby all year- February by Raise The Roof. I am stitching these all separate. I am using one frame and switching them out as months change. I hope to get March and April stitched this year

This is my final floss toss for Lizzy Kate’s snowmen/belles. Awhile back I saw a small group of people who had decided to stitch them all together. I decided to do the same. It took me awhile to get a pattern charted that has all the designs on it and looked right to me. I hope to start this sometime this year.

Up next is this weeks project- 6 bats and a black cat.  It is a little late for last halloween-oops. But it IS early for this halloween. I really enjoyed stitching this and love how it turned out. I did make a few mistakes/changes. I used all green for the pumpkin stems and accidently made the house a little too big.  I haven’t decided how to finish this yet, and likely won’t until halloween gets closer.

6 bats and a Black cat- blue ribbon designs- 2012 Halloween collector’s issue of Just Cross stitch. 32ct hand dyed jobelyn. 2 over 1.

This coming week is Chatelaine week. I hope to get that pesky 6 O’clock crane stitched properly and most of the rest of the 6 o’clock bridge finished.

Got a few finished and my birthday

I have been on a finishing streak the past few days- I was able to get Knock Knock finished and I gave it as a gift to my sis in law who had been admiring it every time she saw me work on it.  This is my eldest niece, posing with the finished piece

Today I finished something I stitched last year-  a Christmas Sock monkey from a JCS ornament issue.   Just a simple finish but I like it

I thought my sewing machine was broke- hubby fixed it though, so YAY.  I have a few other things I want to finish- Most notably a pillow.

I also as I hinted at in my last post- I finished another WIPocalypse piece as well as a Crazy January Challenge piece-

Coffee Crazy- Lizzy Kate. This was such a fun, simple piece. I really enjoyed it.  I did change the color in the mug to the blue that you see.

Also yesterday was my birthday-  Here is a picture of the stash I got from the birthday club I am in-

I also have some Gift certificates from 123stitch, and some gifts still on the way

2011 wrap up

2011 was a good year for me stitching wise. I did a great job on my To-do list. I finished all but 2 things. Those two things I knew would be a stretch to get done.

I started and finished the Garden series by Country cottage Needlework. I have it ready to take to frame shop soon as possible. I gave up finding a frame second hand, it’s just too odd a shape.

You’ll have to take my word that I participated in 4 exchanges- I don’t have pictures of most of them. I did get an few memorable things.  A pair of valentines day socks (I LOVE funky socks), Snowflake Serenade chart, and my first Round robin.

Do 2 ornaments-

Although I didn’t finish this as an ornament it is an ornament.  Came out of the Halloween issue of JCS from 2011.

Also not technically an ornament, but again I am okay with that. I was going to do this as an ornament….. then along came a Round robin and well….. You can see the finish product not to far down here.

Start and finish 1 additional small

This was in my To do pile for awhile. I got it in an exchange a few years back.  I loved every moment of stitching this.

Finish 1 page of Japanese Garden
Finish Stitching on Japanese Garden (I added this goal part way through the year)

I way over accomplished the first goal of stitching a page.   Pages are hard to count on this one as it is stitched in parts…… but. anyways.   Part way through the year I added the goal of completing the stitching, but that just didn’t happen.  I am still so very pleased with this one.   My big goal for 2012 is to get this stitched and beaded.

3 pages on Mistress or another HAED- has to be on 1 design not a combination.

What to say on this final goal………. I intended this to be my focus piece for 2011, but that just didn’t happen.  I stitched most of this piece during a very difficult, painful part of my life.  And i’ve moved on from that, so stitching this became very hard, and took me back to that past which I don’t have a desire or need to revisit. I am unsure whether I will stitch the rest of this or just the top half of the design.

Weekly update and exchange oh and a finish

I stitched on a halloween small last week.  I know, I know it was supposed to be a Mistress week, but halloween is coming, so……………….

This is from the Halloween book from JCS.   It’s Knock Knock by blackberry Lane Designs.

I stitched this on some unknown piece of fabric that I dyed myself.  It was to be stitched over one on 40 ct. But I am stitching over 2 on whatever that is, i’m guessing 28ct.

I got an exchange in the mail Saturday, a chart exchange.   I just love what I got, both charts I love and have wanted for awhile.

I can’t seem to get the photo to turn, sorry everyone. You’ll have to turn your head or your computer.

So next week I am stitching on JG again.  I hope will get this corner ornament finished!

Few weeks back I finished a pirate monkey from this years JCS halloween ornament issue. Last week I finished it.  I made it into a cube.  My first ever, it doesn’t look too bad, though I will do a few things different next time.

Two finishes

I’m back. I’ve been back for a week actually, but since I didn’t stitch at all while away, I didn’t have anything to post.  I won’t bother with the trip, it was as terrible as going back to a city of great pain is, and cleaning out your beloved grandparents house can be.    Anyone truly curious can read more at my other blog.

Now onto the real reason you read- stitching.  Okay it’s not Japanese Garden which is the real reason you read this, but hey it is stitching, and there are pictures so………….

I have two finishes that’s right two. The first I am counting though it is only sort of a finish-   Mary’s RR for the krafterskorner rr2011.  I really had a great time stitching this up and it stitched up really quick.   Normally I don’t stitch christmas trees (long story I’ll spare you)  but I decided to go ahead and stitch the tree, it was fun. I enjoyed it.

I believe this is from a UK magazine, though I can’t recall which one.

I started strawberry house……… then got decided part through the week to start a halloween ornament (quickly becoming my favorite holiday to stitch). I managed to start it and finish it.   I am hoping to get to finish it later this week, or the weekend. I know how I am going to finish it, but have to go get some stuff first.

Pirate Sock Monkey-Raise the roof Designs
JCS Halloween 2011 issue
18 ct pink aida
no floss changes.

I normally don’t use aida, but I had a piece the perfect size and color, and soooo…….. It was actually an enjoyable stitch.  I still don’t like aida for bigger pieces, but for ornaments I would use it again.  Those of you who have been long time readers may remember I did the christmas sock monkey last christmas from JCS ornament issue.  Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE sock monkeys??? I have two.

In other news- I was at the LNS shopping for an exchange partner when I came across—- LK’s new 6 fat men.  I picked up 2 charts, and of course the halloween JCS book. I already have 2 picked out to stitch. This week is JG but next week I will stitch on them.  I hope to have them both done before halloween, since they are small that shouldn’t be an issue.

I do have a photo of my stash trip but since it included the charts that are for the exchange— I can’t show it.

Up this week—-   JG. I am getting so close. Time to order the bead pack. I have priced it and ordering the bead kit is cheaper.  I have the specialty stitches on the 3 o’clock corner ornament to do, then onto the next one I go.
