WIPocalypse 2015-January

I’m Angie. I’m 38, married 15 years, with a nearly 5 yr old son. I stitch about 1-2 hours a day.mNow that my son is older I sometimes stitch evenings I don’t work as well. I started stitching when I was 10ish, then took many years off until I was around 30.

Although I have participated in the past, I sat out last year. I am participating in WIPocalypse this year. You can learn all about WIPocalypse as well as sign up here.

My goals this year are to complete as many of the following as I can. Most of these will be new starts. I am proud to say missing from my list is Japanese garden, my chatelaine, which I finished. You can see pics a few entries back.

I stitch on a rotation. Currently one week Earthdancer, one week HAED, one week a small. As this first full moon came 5 days into the year the only one I have worked on is Earthdancer.
Here is my current progress. Stitched on Silkweaver’s fairyland 32 ct. Wexford linen

Here is a list of my goals for the year.

Crabby all year-may-raise the roof (Rabbits). I am stitching each month separate.

Night owl- mill hill kit (my first mill hill)

Finishes of the year

First up in my finishes this year are 2 small pieces. These are crabby all year from Raise The Roof Designs. This is March and April. Although they were designed to be stitched on one big piece of fabric, I decided to stitch them separately so they can all share one frame. They are stitched on 28ct coffee/tea dyed even weave.

Next up We have 6 bats and a black cat. This is blue ribbons design. It is stitched on 32 ct. Jobelyn that I hand dyed. The design is published in the 2012 collectors Halloween issue of Just cross stitch magazine.

One Of my 2 BAP’s I finished this year was cirque des couers. It is from ink circles. I stitched it on the same hand dyed 32 ct Jobelyn that I used for 6 bats. I started this back in February of 2013. I’m so pleased with how it turned out. I used Caron waterlillies blue lagoon.

Last up is my chatelaine, Japanese garden.  I Couldn’t be more pleased. It is stitched on silkweaver’s Mississippi blue 28 ct Belfast. This took me over 5 years to complete.  You can see more/better photos of this in my previous entry.

Huge Update- Haed, Cirque, Japanese Garden

Although I have been stitching, it has been just shy of a month since I last updated.  Needless to say this update will be longer than usual, and more picture heavy.

Going way back, to the beginning of April, I started a new small- Crabby april.  This should be finished next week after I stitch it. I am stitching all the crabby months separate.  I do have 2 DMC colors I need to get in order to finish it next month.

Then I had a week on Cirque. I am still making great progress on this though I did have a small frog visit.  I should still for sure have this done by end of summer if not before.  I apologize for this very crappy photo.  This was actually the best of the bunch.  The colors look terrible washed out on that photo.

Japanese Garden has a few photos this time around.  I finally bought the beads for it. I got them from European Cross stitch.  WOW that is a lot of beads.  They are so gorgeous though. I know it will be worth it in the end.  This was my first order from Cindy, I would definitely use her again. Very great service.

I not only finished the 6 O’clock side, I started the final side, 9 o’clock. The end of the stitching is in sight! I barely even need the pattern to stitch the bridge at this point. I included 2 close ups. One of the gorgeous flowers, one of the pesky crane that I had to frog and restitch. Couldn’t help but add a photo of the entire piece to date. Getting hard to take photos of the whole thing.

Last but certainly not least, My Haed- Dragonflies whisper. It is still coming along great. I am really enjoying stitching on this. This is just about 3 1/3 pages. Included photo of section I’m currently stitching as well as entire piece to date.

6 bats and black cat finished- plus a few finished items-

This is something that I stitched last year. It was a quick easy stitch that I enjoyed doing. It was also my first beading. I got around to doing this simple quick pillow finish recently. I may add some runched ribbon around the outside at some later date, I may not. I haven’t decided yet.

It is LHN- snowy pines 28ct. tea dyed evenweave. Stitched as charted.

This I also stitched last year.  It is Crabby all year- February by Raise The Roof. I am stitching these all separate. I am using one frame and switching them out as months change. I hope to get March and April stitched this year

This is my final floss toss for Lizzy Kate’s snowmen/belles. Awhile back I saw a small group of people who had decided to stitch them all together. I decided to do the same. It took me awhile to get a pattern charted that has all the designs on it and looked right to me. I hope to start this sometime this year.

Up next is this weeks project- 6 bats and a black cat.  It is a little late for last halloween-oops. But it IS early for this halloween. I really enjoyed stitching this and love how it turned out. I did make a few mistakes/changes. I used all green for the pumpkin stems and accidently made the house a little too big.  I haven’t decided how to finish this yet, and likely won’t until halloween gets closer.

6 bats and a Black cat- blue ribbon designs- 2012 Halloween collector’s issue of Just Cross stitch. 32ct hand dyed jobelyn. 2 over 1.

This coming week is Chatelaine week. I hope to get that pesky 6 O’clock crane stitched properly and most of the rest of the 6 o’clock bridge finished.

WIPocalypse finish

6 bats and a black cat

6 bats and a black cat.  32 count hand dyed Jobelyn. I love how this one is coming along. Instead of saying it won’t be done for this Halloween I will say it is very early for next Halloween.  I even have the perfect fabric to finish it with if I don’t decide to frame it.  This is an easy stitch, though it does have 2 specialty stitches, they are ones I am familiar with. It’s few colors makes it a great project to take with me.

Love Stinks

Love Stinks. Part of the Crabby all Year series by Raise The Roof designs. Stitched on tea/coffee dyed 28 count evenweave. I am stitching each piece separately. I have a frame already and I will switch them out monthly.  Eventually I will have a variety of the month series from different stitchers all up by my calendar.

This brings my WIPocolypse total to 7/18. I am still quite hopeful to get to 9/18 at least.

It is the last week of the month. Usually that would mean Dragonflies Whisper, my HAED. However I have finished my yearly goal already and Japanese Garden has been calling my name.  I have been stitching on the final parts for 3 days now. I am currently working on the 2nd 1 over 1 crane. If I remember correctly, it should take me about a week to finish it.  You will have to wait until next update to see it though.

3 Framed Pieces, cirque update

I know it has been a long time.  My computer was broken so all my updates had to be through my tablet. It was a pain in the butt to try to get photos on it from my camera.

Anyways. I have been collecting frames for awhile now for these pieces. I have about 7 frames.  Here is the first 3 to get frames…

Crabby all year- January

Garden Bugs- Country Cottage Needleworks

Coffee Crazy- Lizzy Kate

Cirque Des Circles

I plan to use that same frame for all the crabby months. I am stitching each separately and will change them out.

I found all the frames at used stores and refinished them with spray paint and a sanding block.

I recently was in the smoky mountains. Here is the stash I acquired while there-

WIPocalypse 2012- Final
